Appliance Company Hotpoint which was formely owned by General Electric was today not answering calls with speculation mounting that the Company is set to quit Australia.
The Company whose products are sold by Harvey Norman, Betta Stores and Bi Rite has operated in Australia since 1949.
No offical announcement has been made relating to the Company with calls to the Companies NSW head office going unanswered all day.

Hotpoint was founded in 1911. The name of the company comes from the hot point of the revolutionary first electric iron of 1905. Hotpoint developed one of the earliest electric toasters in 1908, and has been continually retailing in Australia since 1949 as Hotpoint – Brand master.
When the third part Company who operates Hotpoint’s service support service tried to contact the Company on behalf of ChannelNews calls went unansered.
According to the Companies web site Hotpoint is owned by a subsidiary of Nanjing Textiles (Nantex) which first listed on the Shanghai stock exchange in 1993 and is one of China’s top 500 companies.
