We know that things are pretty rough in the TV industry but now it appears that Kerry Stokes the owner of Channel Seven and the Caterpillar franchise in Western Australia may have an opportunity to get into the Android smartphone market.
“Cat” as Caterpillar is known has announced the Cat B15 smartphone.
This ruggedized device has a 4-inch display, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, a 1GHz dual-core processor and a 5-megapixel camera. While the basic specs are pretty ordinary the device’s toughness is what sets it apart.

Cat is a brand well known for making high quality dumpsters and big trucks that move mountains, and clothing that they claim is as tough as their mining gear.
Their B15 will take high levels of wear and tear, is waterproof and drop proof, and is designed to work in the most arduous of conditions.
The IP67 certification enables the Cat B15 to be immersed in 1 metre of water for up to 30 minutes and withstand a 1.8 metre drop.
It is not known when the product will go on sale in Australia, the device is currently selling in the UK for $499.
