Spec-wise, the tough tablet sports a powerful 1.2GHz dual core processor, dual cameras – 5 MP at the rear and a 2 MP out front – Wi-Fi and GPS. It also offers 16GB of storage and connectivity wise comes with micro-USB, microSD, HDMI and stylus pen similar to Lenovo tablet announced also at CES.

Aimed at the business market in particular, the Toughpad “meets a unique need,” Kitajima declared on-stage at CES today and proceeded to drop the device on the ground (although it was not fully certain if it was by accident or on purpose!).
However, hey presto, the tab was still intact despite the fall to the ground, proving it lives up to its tough name, making it a handy device for those on the move.
Kitajima also demoed the Toughpad’s uses when hooked up to a Viera Smart TV. “Sharing personal content is easy,” he declared, showing how content can be moved seamlessly between the devices, as pictured.
The impressive 1,024 x 768 capacitive screen has a matte-like anti-glare finish although early viewers at CES today say its fails to match up to established rivals iPad or Samsung Galaxy on screen quality and images.
However, it is a nifty looking device, sporting a white colour and side buttons with glass-like finish and a holder at the back to make sure working with it on the go or holding it by hand is easy.
However, no word yet on pricing but we’ll keep you posted.
