Dick Smith’s “game on sale” round two kicked off this week and will be extended until 23rd of April, in a bid to win back favour among sour faced customers.
This announcement came in the wake of Dick’s disastrous sale last week which caused uproar among keen gamers, who lined up to get their mitts on cut price Playstations, Xbox 360s and gaming titles like Assassins Creed 2 for $5.
The Woolies owned retailer blamed “the unauthorised leaking of an internal price list last week” for last week’s sale flop, where demand “exceeded expectations.”
Day 1 of the sale saw Dick’s website crash while instore customers arrived at Dick’s door to find many of the sale goods were not even in stock.
Some upset gamers were even branding the $7m clearance sale a “scam.”

And like last week, the retailer warned “stock is selling faster than expected,” once again.
So, “as a gesture of goodwill in addition to the Game on Sale event we will now be offering extend the offer to include 30% off gaming software and accessories until Sunday 15 April,” according to the company site.
“We thank you for your patience and continued support and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
This 30% off excludes gaming consoles, digital cards & advertised catalogue lines in DS Game On brochure.
And the ‘please you sir’ strategy appears to be working:
“Bought a few bargains this morning from my small local store.. staff were really nice..thx :D” one happy gamer wrote on Dicks Facebook wall today.
“Went into the Midland store this morning (the one on the grt eastern) and they were really good 🙂 managed to get a few great deals, and the staff were really friendly,” another satisfied customer declared.
However, other weren’t so doe- eyed about Dick’s sale:
“Was at the Rockingham store and thinks it’s wrong that they sold all the DSi’s to a lady and her friends before the store had even opened when the rest of us had been standing there waiting for the store to open also”
