Twitter to get a music service…thanks to Aussie start-up.
Social network giant buys Aussie start-up We Are Hunted, the music discovery service now based in San Francisco.
“While we are shutting down wearehunted.com, we will continue to create services that will delight you, as part of the Twitter team, ” We Are Hunted announced via its website.
However, the music discovery site set up in Brisbane in 2007 confirmed it is working on a secret project with Twitter, saying “we’re not yet ready to talk about it.”

The acquisition could mean the mini-blogging site could soon get its own music service in the form of an app, industry watchers believe.
“There’s no question that Twitter and music go well together”, the music service founded by Aussies Richard Slatter, Michael Doherty and Stephen Phillip, said.
“Artists turn to Twitter first to connect with fans, and people share and discover new songs and albums every day. We can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on at Twitter.”
US DJ Ryan Seacrest tweeted this week he had been playing around with a
Twitter music discovery app, so appears to confirm speculation that tunes are a-coming to Twitter.
“Playing
with @twitter’s new music app (yes it’s real!)…there’s a serious
dance party happening at idol right now,” Mr Seacrest tweeted this week.
We Are Hunted is warning users “your account will be shut down as well” but will allow users to still keep their music favorites.
No word how much Twitter coughed up for the Hunted service.
