Dr Who? Never miss a show again: Samsung Apps Store has snapped up ABC iView, BBC News and Explore VOD app for your viewing pleasure on Smart TV’s And Blu Ray players.

ABC’s iView app offers loads of local and international TV shows like Angry Boys, Spicks and Specs and Dr. Who, on demand.
Other categories include ABC for Kids, news & current affairs, sports, arts & culture, comedy and documentaries.
And for the first time here, Samsung Smart TV’s can get BBC News delivered “continuously streamed” news as well as business, tech, entertainment, updates from one of the most highly respected news services in the world.
This service was previously pay-only. This comes as the BBC is set to launch a global version of its on-demand video service, iPlayer for iPad.
However, the bad news is it is not hitting Aussie shores, just yet, but we’ll let you know if this changes.
Explore 3D, another new video-on-demand (VOD) app, streams movie trailers, music videos, lifestyle and documentaries in both 2D and 3D.
And the best news of all is that the apps are free via Samsung Apps HDTV store. A whopping five million apps have already been downloaded since the store opened its virtual doors in February 2010.
It currently has more than 80 free apps, including BigPond Movies, AFL & NRL Game Analysers, NineMSN apps and seven streamed BigPond TV channels.

“Samsung Smart TVs and Blu-ray players are changing how consumers perceive the TV experience in their home.”
The BBC’s new iPlayer for
iPad gives customers who pay a monthly fee access to programmes as well as the ability to download content and watch offline, something which is not currently available on the British version.
