Drawing on the classic JBL professional studio speakers that set the standard for high performance monitors in the 1970s and 1980s, the new Studio Monitors effortlessly re-create listening experiences with all the richness and detail of the original performance.

Distributed in Australia by Convoy International, Geoff Matthews, CEO of Convoy says: “JBL has one of the richest legacies of any audio brand, but the 1970s and 1980s stand out as particularly innovative periods doing the company’s rich heritage.”

“The 4429 and 4319 draw on classic studio monitors which set the standard for speakers in their day, yet offer 21st century performance to deliver exceptional audio, even for the newest digital media,” Matthews continued.

The 4429 is modeled on JBL’s 1985 4425 studio monitor, which excelled as a speaker designed to give true studio performance in transportable size without the need for subwoofer augmentation.

It incorporates a number of important improvements over the 4425 and its successors, most notably, a UHF transducer, an improved HF compression driver and horn design, a new crossover network and improved internal bracing combine to give the 4429 an advantage in the naturalness, clarity and detail.

The 4429 speaker also features a massive, 300mm (12-inch) woofer with pure pulp-cone, cast frame and edge-wound voice coil, a 50mm pure titanium HF compression driver and 19mm pure titanium UHF compression drivers with a one-piece SonoGlass horn. These professional grade drivers deliver trademark JBL dynamics, tight, punchy bass lines, a natural, focused midrange and clear, distinct highs.

According to Convoy, they reveal subtleties you may never before have experienced in recorded music, with one aim in mind: to give you the ultimate sonic performance.

To continue the JBL studio-monitor theme, the 4429 speaker comes in classic walnut veneer with polyurethane topcoat and dual bass ports in a distinctive blue front baffle and grille.

Meanwhile the JBL Studio 4319 takes inspiration from another famous JBL Studio monitor, the 4310, which was found in more professional recording studios than any other monitor.

Engineered to play loud and long with unequalled dynamics, sonic clarity and tonal accuracy, the 4319 features an immense, 300mm (12-inch) woofer driven by a patented Differential Drive, dual voice-coil assembly, a large inverted-dome midrange driver and a fast magnesium/aluminium dome tweeter.

Together these advanced transducers offer impeccable handling of bass frequencies, flawless midrange and the purest highs to produce a studio-grade playback at home. Die-cast transducer frames dissipate heat to minimise distortion caused by power compression, and a heavily braced enclosure virtually eliminates unwanted internal resonances.

Both the JBL 4429 and 4319 Studio are available now from JBL specialist retailers.

Recommended Retail Prices for both models are as follows:

4429 Studio Monitor: $7,900 pair

4319 Studio Monitor: $5,900 pair
