Kaiser Bass has added the windscreen-mounting Car Camera to its line-up of unconventional recording equipment, ranging from gaming console recorders to similarly-styled road cams.

The Car Camera is a small, portable camera with a wide viewing lens that sticks onto your windscreen to record what you see (or might’ve missed) on the road as you drive.

The five megapixel camera captures up to 1280 x 720 resolution video on an SD card that can be played directly on its own mounted 2.5 inch display. The small cam records in AVI format from its quarter hi-res CMOS sensor, with videos viewable on PC.

The Car Camera, running at $99.95, is very lacking compared to Kaiser Baas’ similar car cam, the RoadRecorder.

This miniature camera device continuously records the road ahead while using GPS, timestamps and G-force sensors to track your speed, location, and any sudden braking, swerves or collisions. The premium you pay for these features is $249.95 though.

These recorders are pretty limited in their real-world applications, but if you’re looking for a witness on your side in your (knock on wood) next car crash, they do provide a handy one-up. Otherwise, it might just hog your car’s smoke lighter/charger socket from your GPS device.
