Having proven itself the hottest product of last year’s IFA conference in Berlin (as well as locally), Lenovo have now announced a new cheaper variant on their Yogabook.

The Yoga A12 features the same Intel Atom x5 processor and slick Halo keyboard found in the original Yogabook. It’s also packing a slightly-larger 12.2-inch display but slightly less (2GB rather than 4GB) RAM.

Like the rest of Lenovo’s Yoga-branded products, it also features the company’s unique 360-degree hinge – enabling it to easily be setup and used as either a tablet or a laptop.

However, unlike the original Yogabook, the A12 only offers an Android experience. There’s no Windows 10-version on offer here.

The other key absence is that of the Yogabook’s smart stylus integration that allowed the keyboard to double as a drawing tablet.

That said, this omission has allowed Lenovo to push the price on the A12 lower – a move that will hopefully cement the Halo keyboard as standard going forward.

A spokesperson from Lenovo has confirmed to ChannelNews that the Chrome-OS variant of the original Yogabook is still in the works.

The Yoga A12 will be available on Lenovo’s website on February 8th in two colors (gunmetal grey or rose gold) for an US price of $299.

Australian pricing and availability to be confirmed.
