As the race to 8K intensifies, LG has urged Australians its 88-inch 8K Z9 OLED TV – a world first, and scheduled for H2Y19 – is “worth the wait”, amid competition from Samsung, Panasonic and Sharp.
The news follows the launch of LG’s 2019 TV & Sound range last fortnight, highlighting its OLED and NanoCell technology.
While the company’s 8K TV is scheduled to launch in the second-half, fellow Korean giant Samsung has already announced selected 8K TV model prices.
“It’s another exciting year of innovation at LG, the first 8K OLED TV is a game-changer product, for sport and cinema enthusiasts alike, that will truly set the viewing experience apart,” claims LG Electronics General Manager of Marketing, Angus Jones.
“Year on year we’re refining and innovating our OLED TVs and will continue to transform living rooms with picture quality that has to be seen to be believed.”
Despite launching later in the game, LG affirms its OLED TV technology is the “premium display standard” – via the elimination of a backlight, each pixel can turn on/off and create the perfect black screen, with images comprising over one billion colours.
LG’s 8K TVs harness 6 step up-scaling technology and noise reduction to create sharp, “hyper realistic” picture.
Incorporating the 2019 Alpha 9 Gen 2 Intelligent Processor, the TV leverages artificial intelligence to optimise viewing based on context and source content.
The processor pledges to automatically identify the quality of source material and optimise display, speech and lighting for premium entertainment.
The TVs support HDMI 2.1 (for smoother and clearer delivery amid high frame rates), whilst integrating 4K Cinema HDR with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
