LG’s VR for G3 virtual reality headset is now available in Australia, with LG advising a limited quantity have hit the local market.LG has advised there will be a number of ways for users to get their hands on a VR for G3 headset, which, based on Google’s Cardboard virtual reality design, operates by inserting LG’s quad-HD display G3 flagship smartphone into the headset’s viewer.
Existing warranty holders, who have signed up at the LG website for the G3 warranty, will be contacted and given the opportunity to receive the headset free of charge.
LG will also be running a competition via its LG Australia Facebook page, with Facebook users able to enter the VR for G3 game of skill competition for a chance to pick up the VR for G3.
Optus new purchasers will also have the chance to secure the headset, with the first 500 customers to buy a G3 smartphone online from Optus to be given a VR for G3 as a bonus gift (more information can be found here).
Built with durable plastic, the VR for G3 employs the G3’s rear key layout, and takes advantage of the G3’s 1 W speaker with Boost AMP.
It includes a ring magnet on the side, which works with the G3’s magnetic gyroscope sensor, allowing users to select applications and scroll through menus without touching the display.
