LG has added to its LG Friends line-up with the LG Action CAM LTE, which it states is the first action camera with LTE connectivity built-in to be available globally.LG states that the Action CAM allows users to stream directly to sites such as YouTube Live without a smartphone, while a remote access functionality via 3G and LTE will enable the device to be used for purposes such as a CCTV camera for home monitoring or as an automobile dash camera.
Users will also be able to download recorded images and videos on their paired smartphones.
The Action CAM has an IP67 rating and “is completely protected from dust, sand and can be immersed in up to one metre of water for up to 30 minutes”.
LG states that a completely waterproof case, to be available in the third quarter, “will enable the camera to participate in more vigorous activities such as surfing and scuba diving”.
The Action CAM, which comes with an optional mount, is decked out with a 1,400 mAh battery, providing a full-HD recording time of up to four hours.
“We are committed to expanding the LG Playground ecosystem with both modules and standalone accessories, and Action CAM LTE is one of many more that we plan to announce this year,” Juno Cho, LG Electronics and Mobile Communications Company president, commented.
LG states that prices, specifications and carrier details are to be announced locally at the time of launch.
