LG Electronics who are a major TV network advertiser in Australia is set to become a new threat for TV networks, with the launch of their own advertising platform which will deliver TV commercials and content to their Smart Cinema 3D TV’s around the world.

Already big brands like Toyota are backing the new platform after LG launched  the world’s first integrated advertising platform for Smart TV applications.

 The company’s complete ad solution includes in-app advertising support incorporated into LG’s app development SDK, management and optimisation of the publisher’s ad inventory, and ad monetisation through LG’s alliance with a Company called YuMe.

During the past 12 months LG and Samsung have gone head to head in the Smart TV market in Australia with Samsung resorting to Federal Court action in an effort to stop what they claimed was “misleading” advertising by LG for the new 3D Cinema Smart TV offering.

The new TV advertising platform if launched in Australia could be a threat to TV networks and the likes of Google who are set to deliver their own premium movie services via YouTube which is already available on both LG and Samsung Smart TV’s

The global, multi-device platform is said to present “an immersive engagement of the TV’s large-screen experience combined with the interactive engagement of digital media.”

LG said publishers also will be able to make use of a real-time reporting system built into the technology along with a number of other business friendly features to measure performance results.


 Because the LG ad platform is integrated into LG smart TV HDTVs, Blu-ray Disc players, smart TV Upgraders and other LG smart TV platforms, advertisers can run their campaigns on these devices as well as other connected CE devices participating in YuMe’s Connected Audience Network.

The first sponsor to appear on the service is Toyota which plans to use the system to promote its 2012 Toyota Camry as part of what the car maker said would be its largest advertising campaign to date.
