LG is set to challenge Samsung’s 5-inch Note II “phablet” – a cross between a smartphone and tablet – with a model that has an even bigger display.t plans to launch the Optima G Pro, a flagship product with a 5.5-inch Full HD display at next week’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. It was developed to meet the growing demand for smartphones with large screens, according to LG.
The Optima G Pro will come with a 1.7GHz Qualcomm quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of random access memory. The battery is said to have the largest capacity in its class at 3140mAh, allowing for Full HD viewing “for hours on end”.
It was developed “specifically to deliver vivid and superb picture quality in a large display smartphone form factor,” said Jong-seok Park, CEO of LG Mobile Communications.
“We will continue to expand our position in the premium LTE smartphone segment with our superior display technology and unique user experience.”
