LG has today announced that it will introduce a premium limited edition smartwatch in collaboration with US retail jewellery company REEDS Jewelers carrying a price tag of approximately US$1,200 (around $1,681).While LG’s LG Watch Urbane, set to arrive at Australian retailers from tomorrow, is marketed as a meeting of smart technology and style, the Watch Urbane Luxe is taking the fashion stakes to the next level, with a price tag to match.
Adorned in 23-karat gold, the Watch Urbane Luxe comes with an alligator leather strap, and sports a deployment clasp “for a fitted, elegant look that isn’t bulky”. It will come set in a piano-gloss lacquer case.
“This blending of craftsmanship and technology is a natural evolution of the smartwatch, which is becoming
more of a lifestyle accessory than a piece of hardware,” Chris Yie, LG Mobile Communications Company vice president and head of marketing communications, commented.
“We think this is a good direction for wearables and we want to encourage this transformation.”
LG states that each of the 500 limited edition watches will be engraved with its own serial number for authenticity and will be available initially from the REEDS website for pre-order, to be available starting at the end of October.
