The problem with some speaker systems for the iPod is that they are not portable. Sure, some of the products out there have small form factors and sound really great, but users cannot bring them along to any outdoor events as they need a socket to work.

What’s great about Logitech’s new Pure-Fi Anywhere is the fact that it can be easily packed up, brought along, and be used instantly, without the need for electrical outlets.

The package comes with the Pure-Fi Anywhere speaker system, an AC adapter, a remote control, different universal dock adapters for the iPod, and a protective travel case. The unit comes in either white or black, giving users the option to choose which unit complements their iPod. The unit also has six buttons on top of the unit (volume up and down, shuffle, repeat, ‘Stereo XL’, and power button) and a battery life indicator, making it easy for users to control the unit with ease. What’s good about this portable speaker system is the fact that it can play other audio players, as an auxiliary input connector is present at the back of the unit.

Out of the box, users can be able to use the speaker system by simply plugging it to any electrical outlet. The Pure-Fi will start charging at this time, but users may still be able to plug in their iPod and use the speakers if they want to. Users will be able to know whether the unit is charged and ready to go if the battery level LED emits a solid light.

One thing we really liked about the Pure-Fi is the fact that it can get very loud without compromising on its sound quality. Delivering loud and clear music is one thing, but for a speaker this size to deliver a full-range of sound at loud volumes, it just left us speechless.

The speakers were able to pump out the bass as we listened to our drum and bass album and give us lively mids and highs while listening to the latest pop tunes. In addition to this, users may be able to widen the sound field just by enabling the ‘Stereo XL’ mode. We listened to the unit with and without the ‘Stereo XL’ mode and have found that there was an obvious difference in sound perception when this function is turned on. This is because of the fact that we instantly had that impression that the sound coming from the speakers came from various directions (front and sides), even if the speakers were right in front of us.

The remote control that came with the speaker system is complete, with it being able to navigate though the iPod’s menu, toggle its repeat or shuffle setting, adjust its volume, and even go to the previous track/rewind or proceed to the next track/forward. Even from afar, we were able to control our iPod and go as far as adjusting its EQ settings without having to touch the unit.

The battery life of the unit was superb as it lasted around ten hours before having to recharge it again, making it the ideal portable speakers during those summer beach trips with family and friends.

Conclusion:

Logitech’s Pure-Fi Anywhere is a portable speaker system that is in a class of its own. It has a noteworthy sound quality, has a very well-made remote control, and has a rechargeable battery that will keep the music playing on and on. And with an RRP of $229, this speaker system makes it even a product worth purchasing.
