As demand for premium docks grows in Australia Marantz, has launched the Consolette, the world’s finest network speaker with dock for Audiophiles. The Fifties-style Consolette dock has a retractable tray that delivers access to the controls along with built-in internet radio, with six presets.
Priced at $1,650 the product is named after a Marantz preamp built for mono discs in the Fifties – and has lifted bits of its design from classic Sixties and Eighties Marantz products, it even has an OLED porthole that looks like it belongs on an A380.
Users can plug in any audio source – including Blu-ray players and set-top boxes – via gold-plated sockets on the rear of the device.
Access for devices is via a little drawer that pops out to hold iPods, iPhones and iPads – it also connects to Android phones and plays music direct from PCs via Wi-Fi or cable.
The dock comes with a remote, but the best way to enjoy it is via an app for both Apple and Android devices, which enables you to play tracks direct from your PC.
The speakers disperse music evenly through the room, and the sound is light years ahead of the sound delivered by a lot of cheaper docks being sold by retailers in Australia.
You can even plug a CD player for all that content that has not been transferred to digital
The Japanese sound Company claims that the Consolette redefines what a network speaker with dock can be. What’s more, this is just the first in a whole series of special events to celebrate Marantz’s 60th anniversary.
