Marantz has launched two new slimline AV receivers with built-in HEOS wireless multiroom playback.
Along with HEOS multiroom, the new NR1608 and NR1508 receivers support a wide range of formats and sources, including 4K 60Hz HDR video pass-through in the Dolby Vision and Hybrid Log Gamma formats, plus music playback using network streaming, Bluetooth and AirPlay.
“For some years, Marantz has set the standard for compact AV receivers, with models packing state of the art features and performance into room-friendly designs in a slimline form-factor,” the company said.
“With the NR1608 and NR1508 it brings the concept right up to date with features including compatibility with the newest 4K ultra high definition video content, including Dolby Vision – plus of course the legendary Marantz sound quality for both movies and music,” Marantz said.
HEOS integration allows both receivers to become part of a “complete wireless multiroom system” when used in combination with HEOS-enabled speakers. Complete control of the receiver is available through the HEOS app, which can be accessed using the Marantz 2016 AVR Remote app.
Both receivers also support 192kHz/24-bit music from a local computer, NAS drive or via USB, as well as internet radio and streaming services like Deezer, Spotify Connect and Tidal.
The NR1608 is the higher end receiver of the two, and features 7 channels delivering 90W of power per channel. Eight HDMI inputs are included on the receiver, including one on the front.
It is able to decode Dolby Atmos and DTS:X 3D surround sound formats, as well as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD. Marantz also highlighted the NR1608’s ability to upscale older video sources like DVD to 4K and create “immersive surround fields” using Dolby Surround and Neural:X processing.
Meanwhile, the more affordable NR1508 features five discrete 85W channels and six HDMI inputs, including one on the front. It is able to decode Dolby True HD and DTS-HD surround sound formats.
The NR1608 is priced at RRP $1,299 and the NR1508 at RRP $999. Both will be available this month.
