Upon his return he will consider a possible role outside of the IT industry. Netgear promoted Ian McLean in 2004 to the position of Asia-Pacific Vice President to manage expanding operations within the region.
The position of Vice President was created in response to this growth and in recognition of the company’s success in the area.
McLean formerly held the position of Asia-Pacific Managing Director.
“Since 2004 I have travelled extensively and I believe that it is time for me to move on. I intend to take time out in Europe with my family and when I return I may not necessarily go back into the IT industry. I think that I would like a change” he said.
Highly popular McLean was an experienced Networking executive having grown Netgear’s business significantly during his time with the Company. No replacement has been named however it is believed that an overseas executive could take up the role with the region being split into two zones.
