Sony Computer Entertainment boss, Kaz Hirai, has declared that he feels Microsoft doesn’t come up its own ideas, but simply copies what Sony does.
Some have accused Sony of copying the Wii’s controller. Speaking to Official PlayStation Magazine, Hirai opened the latest round of attacks between the platform holders – accusing Microsoft of copying all Sony’s ideas.
“Every time we go down a path, we look behind and [Microsoft is] right there – we just can’t shake these guys,” Hirai told the magazine. “I wish that they would come up with some strategies of their own, but they seem to be going down the path of everything we do.”
Hirai later went on to say he’d tell his mum Peter Moore was a copycat if Microsoft didn’t stop copying (Joke). The cutting remarks didn’t stop though, with Hirai also taking a few jabs at the Xbox 360 HD DVD add-on.
“You’re not going to be asking me, ‘So, talk to me about this Blu-Ray add-on that you have. Does it work for games? Is it just for movies?’ That’s exactly the kind of pitfall you fall into if you launch something that’s too early, too premature…” said Hirai, obviously referring to the movies only Xbox 360 HD DVD add-on as opposed to the Blu-Ray drive which is a fundamental component of the PlayStation 3.
