Microsoft is rumoured to launch its Movies & TV app on iOS and Android to widen its consumer base.
At the moment, the app is only available on Microsoft apps like Windows 10, Xbox and PC.
According to Windows Central the addition of this app to iOS and Android is to help consumers buy content when it isn’t available on streaming services like Netflix.
When this app becomes available on those operating systems it will go head-to-head with Google Play and iTunes, a daring feat within itself.
Last year, the company disbanded its music streaming service as it struggled to keep up with giants like Spotify and Apple Music. Commentators were speculating whether Microsoft would do the same to its Movies and TV app.
Microsoft reassured consumers it is committed to its video content app.
Microsoft is reportedly working on a new smart speaker with Cortana to try and keep itself relevant with the tech giants like Apple, Google and Amazon.
There has been no allotted time given to when the app will be available so watch this space.
