A Google Chromebook Vs Apple war has broken out and the biggest victim could be Microsoft and their struggling Windows 10 S which was specifically designed for schools.
With Google now holding 62% of the US education market and Apple a struggling 17% brands selling both Windows and Chrome OS machines have started to lineup behind the Google OS Vs the Microsoft offering claim analysts.
This has led to brands such as Acer and Hewlett Packard gaining share at the expense of both Apple and Microsoft.
Overnight Apple has announced a new 9.7-inch iPad with support for Apple Pencil and programs designed to spark what Apple has described as student creativity.
The new iPad will cost A$439 for schools in Australia and is more versatile and capable than prior models claims Apple.
It featuring a large Retina display, the A10 Fusion chip, enhanced cameras and advanced sensors.
Apple Apps included in the new iPad include Pages, Numbers, Keynote, GarageBand, Clips and iMovie.
Current market leader in the education market Acer is pushing their military grade Spin 11 Chromebook which is already proving popular with schools and students.
Lenovo who are also looking at grabbing share in the education market with a Chromebook is fighting back with their $422, 500e Chromebook.
Both the Acer and Lenovo offerings feature reinforced hinges, ports, and keyboards, and capable of withstanding significant drops.
