Microsoft is encouraging users to buy new Windows 10 PCs, after announcing it’s ending Windows 7 support and updates on January 14, 2020.
Published to its website, Microsoft users can upgrade certain Windows 7 PCs with a full license, pending compatibility with several requirements (here).
Despite this, Microsoft is recommending users move to a new Windows 10 PC to “take advantage of the latest hardware capabilities.”
Whilst users can continue using Windows 7 after support ends, PCs are considered more vulnerable to security risks,
Support for Internet Explorer on Windows 7 devices will also discontinue on January 14, 2020.
A free upgrade to Windows 10 is available for Microsoft 365 Business customers, specifically those with a Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 Pro license on their device.
