Microsoft Australia today will begin shipping the latest version of its Band 2 wearable fitness device, which can double up as a smartwatch.
The Band 2 is described as similar in appearance to the Band 1, which wasn’t marketed in Australia. It has a curved colour AMOLED display with 320 by 128 pixel resolution, a li-polymer battery, two buttons at the bottom and a configurable list of tiles that scroll across the display.
Among other things it can display steps and calories burned, floors climbed, heart rate, and sleep quality. Users can also access smartwatch functions, including messages, incoming call notifications, e-mails, calendar items and Facebook and Twitter material, as well as the time.
It will sell for a recommended $379. Stockists will include JB Hi-Fi, Rebel Sport and Harvey Norman, as well as the Microsoft Store.
