Microsoft has called a mysterious May 20 press conference that has drawn out the usual rumours and speculation but top of the list is introduction of a mini Surface tablet.
The new mini is expected to sport a 7- to 8-h screen but there will also be a 12-h tablet.
The mini will reportedly be powered by an ARM/Qualcomm microprocessor and run Windows RT. It will feature a stylus for digital note-taking and have a 4:3 aspect ratio similar to the iPad.
A Surface powered by an Intel processor that can support a full version of Windows 8.1 is also on the cards along with a 12-h Surface Pro with Intel chip.
The Surface Mini will compete with Apple’s non-Retina iPad Mini which starts in Australia at A$349.
