As the battle for market share at the top end of the high-res audio market heats up Convoy has moved to slot several new digital products into the market that should whet the appetites of audiophiles.
Among the new products launched is a digital music player and an amp that delivers support for high-res multi-room audio.
The NAD’s M50.2 Digital Music Player and the M32 Direct Digital Amplifier are both part of the company’s Masters Series, promising top-of-the-line performance and some of the highest quality sound available.
A major upgrade to the M50, the M50.2 is designed to stream high-res audio wirelessly over a network to BluOS-enabled components. Music can be ripped from CDs or downloaded directly to the RAID-configured two 2TB hard drives for playback, and can also be streamed from cloud services like Tidal and Spotify or played via an external hard drive.
NAD is also “reinventing the integrated amplifier” with the M32, named as an Innovation Award Honouree at CES 2017 earlier this year. The M32 is described as a true digital amp featuring 150W x 2 and fully digital amplification for the shortest signal path possible.
The company sets itself apart from its competitors with support for future customisation and expandability via Modular Design Construction (MCD).
The M32 features four MDC slots, three of which can be used to add new features with support for 24/192. For example, an optional BluOS module can be added for connectivity with local NAS drives and music streaming services.
A wide range of analogue and digital inputs are also available, and a dedicated headphone amplifier can deliver high performance audio for personal listening through a standard 1/4″ jack. The rear panel features two sets of speaker outputs capable bi-wiring, as well as a subwoofer output with a fully configurable Digital Crossover.
Both the M50.2 and the M32 can be controlled via a smartphone or tablet, or through a bright control panel on the front of the components. The M32 also includes an IR remote control.

“NAD has eliminated obsolescence with Modular Design Construction (MDC) while expanding the frontiers of connectivity with BluOS. The M32 and M50.2 are not just future proof, they are the future,” Martin added.
NAD’s M50.2 Digital Music Player and M32 Direct Digital Amplifier are distributed by Convoy, and will be available from NAD Specialist dealers for RRP $6,699 each.
