Following its launch in May last year, Australian consumers are now able to purchase Nest’s Cam IQ – with the addition of Google Assistant soon to follow.
Google Assistant will begin rolling out to Nest’s Cam IQ sometime later, however, will only be available for its Indoor, not Outdoor, model.
Nest’s Cam IQ is heralded the company’s first ‘smart’ cam – featuring facial recognition, and the ability to send alerts to an individual’s smartphone, advising who is in their house.
By calling upon Google Assistant consumers can play music, control other smart devices (e.g. lightbulbs), query general questions, plus more.
The device’s ‘smart’ capability requires a “Nest Aware” subscription, as priced below.
Whilst the camera features an 8MP 4K sensor (with HDR and 12 x digital zoom) it doesn’t record videos in 4K – instead zooming on certain areas at 1080p, aptly called ‘Supersight’.
A 3-microphone setup is included, plus a robust speaker system. In-built 940 nm infared LEDs provide assistance for night-time recording.
Australian consumers are able to purchase Nest’s Cam IQ from iSelect for A$479.
