5G is set to be the go-to phrase at this year’s Mobile World Congress — on par with foldable devices — and NetComm are getting a jump on the competition with the unveiling of its “5G Fixed Wireless Self-Install” technology.
NetComm will conduct its first public demonstration of the new technology at MWC 2019 in Barcelona this week.
The new technology aims to circumvent the need — and cost — of an engineer to install a new external reception antenna in a consumers’ premises in order for them to receive 5G Fixed Wireless services.
Reduce the cost for both new 5G customers and Telcos.
“Operators from all over the world are telling us that Self-Install is the missing ingredient to make 5G Fixed Wireless services profitable – and NetComm is leading the race to bring this critical technology to the marketplace,” says Els Baert, Director of Marketing & Communications at NetComm.
Not only will this fulfil a need that consumers have, but NetComm argues that it creates a viable business case for 5G Fixed Wireless services.
“5G Fixed Wireless presents a major opportunity for operators to generate a new revenue stream from their existing network and spectrum assets – and NetComm has the technology to help them make the numbers stack up,” says Baert.
Netcomm is offering a wide range of devices which support both sub 6GHz bands and mmWave, including an indoor desk mount, indoor window mount, outdoor wall mount (available in both self-install or engineer installation), and an outdoor roof mount.
The new platform will enable end-users to both find the ideal location for their new modem and connect their network and modem via a dedicated smartphone app.
