A new wireless standard is set to be released later this year that supports 3D.
The Wireless Home Digital Interface will support all of the 3D formats currently available in Australia including the HDMI 1.4a specifications. Known as the WHDI 2.0 standard it will support 3D in dual 1080p, 4K x 2K ultra-def resolution, and integration with wi-fi and mobile devices.

The WHDI consortium claims that the new technology works with Blu-ray players, set-top boxes, PCs, game consoles, and mobile devices (such as notebooks, tablets, and handsets). It supports 1080p/60Hz at data rates of up to 3Gbps, in a 40MHz channel in the 5GHz unlicensed band, with range beyond 30 metres and latency of less than a millisecond.
WHDI said that they already has 70 percent of market share for wireless video and is expected to have 75 percent by 2015, according to West Technology Research Solutions.
