An 85″ Samsung 8K TV is set to be launched in Australia with the new TV is tipped to be priced at $19,995, it will be the flagship of the Samsung TV offering.
Samsung has started taking pre-orders in some markets for the 85-inch Q900 8K QLED TV which was shown at IFA in Berlin last month for the first time.
This TV has a brand-new upscale engine that is fast and is powered by a new Samsung processor which allows it to upscale Foxtel 4K streaming of live sports to 8K on the fly.
The new Samsung 8K TV offering displays four times more pixels than a current generation 4K/Ultra HDTV and is set to go on sale in the USA on the 28th of October and in November 2018 in Australia.
It also features an enhanced version of Samsung’s LCD-based QLED technology. The Q in QLED stands for quantum dot, a backlight technology that uses a more precise method to generate the red, green, and blue light that makes up a video image than the process typically used in standard LCD displays.
The set has a rated peak brightness of 4,000 nits, supports the new HDR10+ high-dynamic range (HDR) format, and uses proprietary artificial intelligence (AI) processing for upscaling lower resolution images to 8K, regardless of the source.
