The Xbox Games Showcase has just taken place, and near the end, Microsoft unveiled a brand-new, refreshed console range.
This is the first time the company will be offering an Xbox Series X that doesn’t have a disc drive in robot white.
The console is expected to come with 1TB storage and will reportedly cost U$450 (approx. A$681).
An Xbox Series X without a disc drive has been long awaited. Back in March, leaks suggested an all-digital robot white model was being worked on.
Some are expecting that, similar to the PS5 refresh from Sony last year, this console could have a disc drive attachment offered for those who decide they want to play physical games as well.
Additionally, a special edition Xbox Series X will become available soon, which does come with a disc drive, as well as double the internal storage (2TB).
It will also come with a matching controller, be available in galaxy black, and will reportedly cost U$600 (approx. A$908).
Finally, the Xbox Series S will be gaining an update. Last year, a 1TB model in carbon black was released. Now, a version with the same storage and original colour is underway.
It will be a 1TB robot white option, only offered in select models yet to be revealed, and will cost around U$350 (approx. A$530).
Microsoft has revealed the black model will only be available “while stocks last.”
Availability and regional pricing details have yet to be revealed.
In other news, the company has also revealed it has plans for controller designs that will match certain games, as well as more Xbox Series X console wraps.
