According to sources, Apple is in talks to give its AirPods range a major refresh later this year.
The AirPods Pro will stay unchanged, however, the company are reportedly planning to replace the 2nd and 3rd generations of the standard AirPods, as well as the AirPods Max over-ear buds.
Mark Gurman of Bloomberg claimed the AirPods 2 and AirPods 3 will be phased out, and will be replaced with AirPods 4 models that are “differentiated” from each other, sitting below the AirPods Pro.
He reported pricing will be similar to the current models, however, the newer versions will come with higher-end features.
The higher-end model will gain noise cancellation, and the charging case with speakers that allow it to be discovered via the Apple Find My app.
Mark Gurman also claims they are likely going to be USB-C rechargeable, and the fit will be improved as well. The replaceable tips will remain exclusive to the AirPods Pro.
Additionally, Apple also plans to improve the AirPods Max with USB-C charging, and new colours. These will be among the only changes.
The upcoming AirPods Pro will arrive next year, according to the report.
