With the current Apple TV device almost sold out in Australian stores and the device removed from being available for immediate pickup when placing an order for it online, speculation has it that Apple will tonight launch a brand new TV offering.Some insiders are tipping a box that will include a quad core processor along with new software that provides for easier access to content. It’s also tipped that Apple will announce new movie and TV content deals that will allow content to be streamed to a TV display as well as their new iPad 3 which is due tomorrow.
MacRumors claims that the dry spell in the supply of an Apple TV box could be an indication of the pending release of an updated version of the device.
The latest rumours suggest that a new Apple TV device would upgrade the video quality from 720p of the current device to 1080p. Other rumours suggest that the new set-top box will have Siri integration.
On the 15th of February 2012 during an Apple earnings call, CEO Tim Cook hinted again at the release of something bigger and better than the current Apple TV box.
