A new Apple TV tipped for release in Q4 could come with a brand new wafer thin iPad Mini TV controller a source in Asia has told SmartHouse. The tablet type device – that will double as a small iPad – will have applications that allow users to access TV programs, music and movie content, as well manage their own content.
The device can also be used to read books and publications, watch videos and play games. Users will also have access to new games via the Apple App store.
The device is slimmer than the Toshiba AT200 which is the slimmest Android tablet currently being sold in Australia.
SmartHouse has been told that the Mini iPad will come bundled for free with an Apple TV and will serve as the TV remote. Users will link it to the TV over a Wi-Fi network.
A 3G version will also be available to buy as a separate device.
Recently Japanese blog Macotakara claimed an unknown source has seen a prototype of the tiny iPad, which will clock in at a wafer-thin 7.2mm -making it slimmer than the Kindle Fire and Google Nexus 7 tablets.
