Activision is trying to squeeze in the last few gamers who haven’t cottoned-onto CoD-fever by releasing a demo of Call of Duty: Black Ops for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.The demo features the ‘WMD’ single-player level of the game and is available for download on the PlayStation Network (PSN) and the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
The Call of Duty franchise, which has gone on to break entertainment sales records across genres with multi-billion dollar sales, is most popular for its online multiplayer content which the demo won’t feature.
Activision earlier released the Call of Duty: Black Ops ‘First Strike’ map pack that adds five new levels to the multiplayer game for Xbox 360. The map pack is set for release on PS3 today.
Maps include a mock-up of the ‘Berlin Wall’, a ‘Stadium’ sports complex, the ‘Discovery’ of snowy outpost in Antarctica, and the teetering high-rise rooftops of ‘Kowloon’ City, Hong Kong.
The fifth map is for the Zombies mini-game, titled ‘Ascension’, and pits players against hoards of Soviet zombies in a trap-encompassed, Cold War-era cosmodrome.
