Advance Audio Australia, who takes over distribution of Control4 products in November, will kick off their new product range with a brand new Control4 operating system that includes the ability to support user-downloadable Flash-based third-party applications.
Control4, who recently dumped Convergent Technologies as their distributor in Australia, markets IP-based home-control systems that use Ethernet, Wi-Fi and wireless ZigBee networks to integrate the control of multiple home systems and create multi-room-audio systems.
In Australia, Colntrol4 is set to expand into commercial sites, government and education markets.
Their new OS/2 supports wireless ZigBee Pro hardware, and incorporates a new user interface that lets customers mark favourite pages for display on their touchscreen controllers or TV display.
Another key feature is DLNA compatibility which enables Control4’s multi-room-audio systems to stream music, cover art, photos and video from networked Windows PCs.
Other enhancements include the addition of WMA, AAC and FLAC music playback to MP3 playback. The OS also enables third-party suppliers of Control4-compatible products to write their own user interfaces, which would appear on Control4 touch screens and connected TVs.
A Control4 app store will let consumers download applications to their Control4 system directly through the Internet. The apps would appear on Control4’s touchscreen or connected TV.
