NSW based Len Wallis Audio working in conjunction with SmartHouse, has launched a brand new e book concept that allows consumers, retailers and trades, to get access to written content, video and magazine reviews when reading an online publication that looks like a traditional magazine.
Developed by 4Square Media, the new e book concept which can be downloaded here is built around retaining a traditional magazine format while incorporating video, links to web sites and third party reviews. It is ideal for product information and training claim 4Square media.
As of July, issues of SmartHouse will be available in the new e book format and later this year as issues over HTML 5 and Flash are resolved we will move the concept to phones, the iPad and a new generation of tablets claimed 4Square Media.
With the new 4Square Media e books, the traditional index page is delivered visually, with whole pages displayed in a single window.
A simple click takes a reader directly to a given page.

The e book also includes a search function which displays multiple references to a vendor, subject or product.
Another key feature is the introduction of a PDF download capability which allows the book to be downloaded as a full PDF document.
4Square Media CEO David Richards said “There are a lot of electronic publications out there which while looking slick still don’t deliver a totally interactive experience. What we wanted was firstly a publication that looked like a traditional magazine. We wanted to turn pages easily while being able to enlarge pages online. Secondly we wanted to integrate video with easy access to reviews and online content.”
“A lot of the publications we are seeing on the iPad are flat read only magazines with the occasional link. Going forward we believe that our e-book which can easily be syndicated online because of the small sized file, will appeal to vendors who are looking to deliver a truly integrated experience for consumers as well as retailers who need training and trades who need to understand how something is configured”. Richards said.
The Len Wallis publication will be emailed to over 75,000 registered subscribers to the SmartHouse database, as well as put online so it can be easily downloaded.
