The Xbox One is set for its first update for 2016, with Microsoft revealing a number of new features set to land on the console. The update follows the launch of the new Xbox One experience in November last year, billed by Microsoft as delivering the “fastest and most social Xbox experience ever”.
Microsoft is now looking to build on last year’s update.
“Rolling out to the Xbox One Preview audience starting today, and to Windows 10 PC and mobile Xbox Beta app members next week, are a host of updates,” Mike Ybarra, Xbox director of program management, wrote via a blog post.
“This month, we’re focused on continuing to improve social features to help you stay connected to the Xbox Live community across console and PC, while bringing these experiences closer together.”
Among the Xbox One Preview updates that will start to roll out is a feature providing the ability to see who’s in a party before joining, while a new Gamerscore Leaderboard will compare friends’ total gamerscore, as well as biggest gains over a rolling 30-day period.
Users will be able to re-arrange pins on Xbox One Home and access them offline, while the activity feed will inform users when there are new items in their feed.
Joinable Twitch broadcasts, meanwhile, are designed to make it easier to watch friends’ game broadcasts, providing options to launch broadcasts if friends are broadcasting.
Among the updates coming to Xbox One Preview and the Xbox Beta app are a newly integrated Avatar Store, with Xbox News posts to arrive in users’ activity feeds, while it also being made easier to get details on suggested friends.
