Apple has announced a brand new multitasking iPhone that is thinner than previous models and delivers a big 40% improvement in battery life.

It also has a new front-facing camera, camera with LED flash and new stainless steel and glass casing. Users will be able to record HD video, as the phone comes with built in video editing and 720p video recording at 30 fps.
The new iPhone 4 also has an improved 5MP camera, with the pixels kept the same size in order to increase the amount of light recorded by each snap – with a five times digital zoom and an LED flash.
Powered by the new Apple A4 processor which is also in the iPad, the new phone delivers 7 hours talk time and 6 hours browsing over a 3G network.
The new iPhone also has the same microSIM technology as used in the iPad, which means that users will have to apply for another SIM card from those used in a current model iPhone.
Another new feature is the introduction of a gyroscope, which is linked into the accelerometer and compass, this delivers a six-axis directional control for gaming and applications.
A pumped up Steve Jobs showed it off on stage at the Apple World Wide Developers Conference by whirling around on the stage and a wooden block on the screen behind him followed his every move.
Apple has also unveiled iMovie for the iPhone. Also included are Yahoo and Bing search engines to the default Google option, meaning users get a wider choice of search engines when looking for their information.
The Australian launch date has been set for 24 June. It will also come with multi-tasking which is the first time on an Apple phone.
This is the fourth iPhone from Apple, following on from the increasingly successful range, starting with the original iPhone in 2007 and continuing with the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS in 2008 and 2009 respectively.
