Google’s new Chromecast and Chromecast Audio streaming devices are now available in Australia, having launched today.Chromecast and Chromecast Audio were first unveiled in September of last year, with Mickey Kim, head of Asia Pacific partnerships, Chromecast and TV, announcing via a blog post that they have both landed in the local market.
Sporting a fresh design, the new Chromecast has been designed to make it easier to plug into TVs with crowded HDMI ports.
It supports the latest Wi-Fi standards and “adapts more easily to changing Wi-Fi conditions in your home, so you get higher quality video with less buffering”.

Chromecast allows users to view video content from services including Netflix, Stan, Presto and YouTube.
Meanwhile, Chromecast Audio plugs into existing speakers, allowing audio streaming over Wi-Fi.
Chromecast Audio works with music streaming services including Spotify, Pandora and Google Play Music. Like Chromecast, it pairs with a range of devices across the Android, iOS and Windows platforms.
Chromecast will be available from retailers including JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys and Bing Lee, and also on the Google Store, priced at $59.
