A new cordless phone by Siemens features an SOS function to allow people in trouble to call for help.
The Gigaset E365 makes use of a single-touch button to call emergency contacts. The button, located on either the handset or the base, will automatically dial up to four numbers until the call is answered and confirmed. The receiver of the call will then hear a recorded message stating that the caller needs assistance.
The phone is specially designed for the elderly or those with children and has large, illuminated keys and an easy-to-read display. It was developed based on feedback from users and focus groups consisting of the elderly and families.
“We actually hope no one ever has the need to use the function, but it is a definite comfort to know that help is just one button press away if required,” says Lindsay Robinson, Siemens Gigaset Product Manager.
“And with the phone calling up to four numbers continuously until someone answers, you know help will be on its way quickly.”
The Gigaset E365 is available for $179. For more information, see our article here.
