Apple is tipped to release two new low-cost iPads in 2019, including a new iPad mini, which hasn’t been updated since 2015.
According to a Bloomberg report, Apple plans to release an updated version of its lower-cost iPad with a 10-inch screen, faster processor that retains the Lightning port, hinting at a launch in the coming months.
Citing sources familiar with the plans, the report also states that Apple is working on a “new, cheaper iPad mini”, Apple’s smallest tablet which hasn’t been updated since 2015.
Additionally, the report states that an upgraded iPad Pro is in the works for early 2020 that would include a laser-powered 3D camera to Apple devices.
Apple’s next version of iOS, iOS 13 is also reported to include iPad-specific updates including a new home screen, improved file management, and “the ability to tab through multiple versions of a single app like pages in a web browser.”
Elsewhere, a programmer uncovered references to four new iPad models in the iOS 12.2 code, and rumours site MacRumors also noted EEC Database registrations for seven new iPads.
Apple recently announced its iPad Pro with Face ID and gesture controls, which may make an appearance on these rumoured tablets.
