Hot on the heels of last month’s release of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple is reportedly gearing up for another wave of major product releases within the next few weeks.Tech news site Re/code has reported sources as stating Apple will be holding a special event on October 16, with updates to its iPad line-up to head the bill.
According to the report, the event will take place at Apple’s Town Hall Auditorium in the Californian city of Cupertino, with Apple to also unveil its latest line-up of iMacs along with OS X Yosemite.
Speculation has been heavy as to the potential features of the updated iPads, with rumours circulating a beefed-up A8 processor is on the cards.

Touch ID fingerprint recognition is another feature that may be introduced.
Rumours have also circulated that the iPad Air 2 will be the first Apple tablet to come in a gold colour.
Apple news site 9to5Mac had previously reported Apple is in the late stages of testing a new line of iMacs with ultra high-resolution Retina Display.
According to technology analyst firm Telsyte, tablet sales suffered a 28 per cent year-on-year decline in Australia in the first half of 2014, with more Android units sold than Apple for the first time.
Telsyte, however, predicted the trend would be reversed in the second half of the year, with Apple reclaiming the number one spot.
“Apple should have a strong second half if it can bring upgraded models to market and benefit from a halo effect created by the iPhone 6 launch,” Telsyte managing director Foad Fadaghi forecast in August.
“More than half of iPhone users already have an iPad, whether consumers upgrade both this year will be the question many will be asking.”
Apple released its latest iPhone versions on September 19, reporting a record 10 million models had been sold in the three days after the launch.
