March could be a busy month for Apple amid reports that a new iPhone and updates to the Apple Watch are on the way.9to5Mac has reported that Apple has a new 4″ iPhone in the works, likely to be called the iPhone 5se, which will be an upgrade of the iPhone 5s.
Apple employees describe the “se” in two ways: as a “special edition” of the 4″ iPhone screen size and as an “enhanced” version of the iPhone 5s, 9to5Mac reports.
Among the 5se upgrades over the 5s, 9to5Mac reports that the 5se will feature the same 8 MP rear camera and 1.2 MP front camera systems from the iPhone 6, an NFC chip for Apple Pay, the A8 and M8 chips from the iPhone 6, and Bluetooth 4.2, VoLTE and 802.11ac Wi-Fi chips from the iPhone 6s.
Meanwhile, 9to5Mac has additionally reported that Apple is bringing a series of new band colour options to its Apple Watch line-up, with the March update unlikely to include new hardware functionality.
9to5Mac reports that Apple is said to be preparing to formally release its WatchOS 2.2 update alongside the new models, while a full second-generation redesign of the Apple Watch is tracking for a September announcement.
