Almost 20 years after turning down flat-screen technology developed by entrepreneurs Steven Abramson and Sidney Rosenblatt, Apple has moved to finally embrace their technology for its forthcoming new iPhone 8.
The new mobile will use the organic light-emitting diode, or OLED, technology that Abramson and Rosenblatt have developed and now market via their Universal Display Corp. outfit.
In addition to the OLED display, the new iPhone will have a front-facing 3-D sensor that uses facial recognition to unlock the screen, according to a Bloomberg report.
This will be supplied by Lumentum, a company that makes the lasers used in 3D sensors.
