JBL has unveiled its new 5.1 full size loudspeaker system that claims to deliver audio clarity and realism.

The JBL CS500 combines four voice-matched models, including the CST55 Dual 2-way floorstanding speaker, the CSC55 Dual 2-way centre channel, the CSB5 2-way surround speaker and the CSS10 Powered 150-watt, 250mm subwoofer.

The range uses advanced engineering adapted from JBL’s industry standard professional loudspeakers, such titanium-laminate tweeters with EOS waveguide, neodymium magnet assembly and PolyPlas polymer-coated-cellulose-fibre cones.
All three loudspeakers in the CS500 include JBL’s Straight-Line Signal Path (SSP) crossover network, which employs a short signal path and premium-quality parts to maintain maximum sonic purity.
The CSS10 powered subwoofer features a built-in amplifier (300-watt peak/150-watt RMS) and a high-excursion, long-throw 250mm (10″) woofer. The woofer operates in a down-firing enclosure incorporating JBL’s FreeFlow port architecture, and offers line-level and LFE connection options.
All models feature rich metallic-silver enclosures and trim, with contrasting high-gloss-black front panels and removable black grilles. The sleek slim-tower of the CST55 floorstanding loudspeaker enable it to be easily positioned as front channel speakers in a home entertainment system, whilst the CSC55 centre channel speaker is perfectly sized for installation above or below flat-panel HD TV screens. Both the CSC55 and the CSB5 can also be wall mounted using the supplied wall brackets for ultimate flexibility.
The Cinema Sound Cinepack CS500 5.1 Speaker System is comprised of:
- CST55 floorstanding tower loudspeaker with 19mm (3/4″) titanium-laminate-dome tweeter with Elliptical Oblate Spheroidal [EOS] waveguide and dual 130mm (5″) PolyPlas cone woofers.
- CSC55 centre channel loudspeaker with 19mm (3/4″) titanium-laminate-dome tweeter with EOS waveguide and dual 130mm (5″) PolyPlas cone woofers.
- CSB5 rear channel loudspeaker with 19mm (3/4″) titanium-laminate-dome tweeter with EOS waveguide and 130mm (5″) PolyPlas cone woofer.
- CSS10, 150-watt powered subwoofer with 250mm (10″) woofer and built-in 300-watt peak/150-watt RMS amplifier).
The CS500 has a recommended retail price of $2,699 and is available from March 2010 from selected JBL stockists including Harvey Norman and independent specialist stores.
