Microsoft has launched a new cheaper version of its Office 365 subscription service in the USA at $A$74, the same package is being sold at retailers in Australia for $88, Microsoft has not explained the reason for the $14 difference.
JB Hi Fi is offering a $15 rebate on the
Office 365 Personal Suite if a consumers buys a new Windows notebook or PC.
Telstra is sting a business customer $162 a
year for the same Office 365 Home suite of productivity tools.
The new Personal version allows for the
Office 365 software to be installed and used on one PC or Mac and one tablet,
including the iPad version, rather than the five computers and five tablets
provided in the more expensive Office 365 Home Premium, renamed to Home,
subscription plan.
Though the number of devices has reduced
down in the Personal edition, much of the rest of the subscription remains the
same. Full versions of Office applications will be installable, as well as
access via smartphones, offline storage, and 60 world minutes of calling per month
on Skype.
While the Home edition provides 20GB of
extra OneDrive storage each for up to five users, the Personal version will
offer it just for one user.
In the USA the Office 365 Personal
subscription costs $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year.
The Home version for
five users in the USA is $99.99 (A$106) this is A$56 cheaper that the same product being sold by Telstra.
