The Myer retail group has teamed with Macquarie Bank to offer a new credit card that can be used for both Android Pay and Apple Pay mobile payments. It claims to be the first Australian retailer to offer the dual facility.
“The card … lets Myer customers conveniently access their card from their smartphone’s digital wallet and, when combined with the Myer credit card app, access a range of security features and clever budgeting tools,” Myer says.
The retail group says that approved customers who meet specific criteria can upload their digital card securely to their mobile device. Once the digital card is uploaded, the customer can access some of the card’s key benefits immediately where Android Pay and Apple Pay facilities are available.
The head of Macquarie’s banking and financial services group, Greg Ward, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as the issuer of the new Myer credit card.
“For many years we have offered credit card products directly and through white-label arrangements, and this is the latest step in supporting innovative digital banking solutions for Australians.”
