Nikon who are seeing their cameras offered to Australian retailers by grey marketers from Asia at prices cheaper than what some digital camera vendors are selling the same models for in Australia, has unveiled eight new compact point-and-shoot cameras including three super-zoom Coolpix models.
A new Coolpix P500 has a massive 36x optical power zoom lens.
They have also introduced the S9100 with an 18x optical zoom, and the L120 with a 21x optical zoom lens.
Other models announced include the Coolpix P300 the S6100, the S4100 the S3100 and the L24.

They also claim that they may even have the new range earlier than Nikon Australia.
All of the new range feature Nikon’s Expeed C2 digital image processing engine, scene auto selector, best shot selector and smart portrait system.
The P500, which will be available in a choice of red or black, offers Nikon’s longest zoom extension in a Coolpix model to date with an 22.5-810mm 3mm equivalent focal range and Nikkor ED glass. The 12.1-megapixel CMOS sensor offers strong low-light performance, and hybrid vibration (VR) reduction stabilization using both image-sensor shift VR and electronic VR.
Also included is high-speed continuous shooting at five full-resolution images per second, and backlighting scene mode with an in-camera high dynamic range (HDR) function.
A Night Landscape mode offers additional low-light performance enhancement by combining a series of consecutive shots taken at a fast shutter speed into a single image with reduced noise when taking handheld shots in night scenes.
It will capture video in FullHD 1080p resolution, can adjust recording speed to create slow motion or high-speed special effects and includes a 3-inch 921K-dot vari-angle LCD.
The S9100, which will be available in a choice of black, red or silver, is called a “pocketable power zoom” camera with an 18x Nikkor ED glass zoom lens (25-450mm 35mm equivalent), and a stylish compact body. It includes a 12.1-megapixel backside illuminated CMOS sensor and ISO sensitivity up to 3200, backlighting scene mode with HDR functionality, night landscape mode, night portrait mode and Nikon’s hybrid VR image stabilization system.
In capture 1080p HD movies, and includes a 3-inch 921k-dot LCD.
The L120, which will be available in a choice of black, red or bronze, is billed as an affordable 21x wide-angle Nikkor zoom lens, and features 14.1-megapixel resolution, hybrid VR image stabilization, low-light sensitivity up to ISO 6,400 (reduced resolution), a 3-inch 921k-dot LCD, 720p HD video recording and easy auto mode.
