The New Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL, along with Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire, have hit the Australian market, with thousands turning out for midnight launches around Australia and New Zealand.Keen gamers arrived in their numbers to snap up the latest additions to the Nintendo 3DS family, with the two new models comprising the 3DS with a 3.33″ display and 3DS XL with a 4.88″ display.
The consoles feature a new C Stick, ZL button and ZR button, designed to enhance the play controls of the existing Nintendo 3DS hardware, while the new “super-stable 3D” function provides players “with an even more comfortable 3D gaming experience”.
Meanwhile, Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire “provide fans of all ages with the classic game-play elements of catching, battling and trading Pokemon”.
“With new Mega Evolutions of favourite Pokemon characters, new areas to explore and new ways to travel, fans who fell in love with the original Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire games will feel like they are embarking on their adventure through the Hoenn region for the first time,” Nintendo states of the new games.
The 3DS carries a suggested retail price of $219.95 and the 3DS XL $249.95, Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire carry a suggested retail price of $59.95 each.
From December 4, Nintendo has advised the Nintendo 2DS Transparent Red and 2DS Transparent Blue will be released in Australia together with one of the latest Pokemon titles pre-installed in two new bundles at a suggested retail price of $179.95 each.
